Assistance for Independent Living (AIL)/ Volunteer Program

Caring compassion one day at a time! That phrase perfectly describes our AIL volunteer program, a network of community volunteers whose efforts support the homebound frail elderly, allowing them to remain independent in their own home with dignity.

Our AIL Volunteer Program serve:

• Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale in-home  
   residents
• Over 55 years of age
• Homebound, leaving home only when absolutely 
   necessary
• One or more chronic health problems
• No family available to perform simple Services
• Wish to remain living independently
        
How do AIL volunteers help?
Become a Volunteer

• Medical and health transportation
• Grocery shopping with or for a client
• Telephone reassurance to check on safety
• Friendly visiting to provide socialization
• Small tasks such as picking up prescriptions,
reading mail for the visually impaired

Who are the AIL volunteers?

• Dedicated persons from local churches,
clubs, senior housing who want to make a
difference in the lives of older adults
• Volunteers can choose to work with 1, 2 or
even 3 persons
• Volunteers can give as little as 2 hours a month
and determine their own level of involvement
